LUNCH |
Our Lunch time is
at 12:15 p.m. to 12:46 p.m. If your child buys lunch from the cafeteria, please help your child memorize their student number. Did you know that you can put a check into your child's lunch account? No more forgotten lunches or money! Write a check to Wedgewood and place it in your child's account. You can write it for a few days, weeks, or even months. If your child brings their lunch, you still might want to put a few dollars in their account in case they forget their lunch at home. The Wedgewood Cafe is designed to accommodate parents who would like to have lunch with their children. It's a special treat when a parent or grandparent comes to visit. We have asked that only children of the parents or grandparents visiting be allowed in the cafe. Your child's friends will need to have their lunch in the cafeteria with the rest of the class. This helps to alleviate hurt feelings, an overcrowded cafe, and children who tend to invite themselves along with their friends. Thanks for your cooperation! |
P.E. |
We go to P.E. on
Days 1, 3, 4, and 5 Please send your child to school in the appropriate shoes on P.E. days. Thanks! |
LIBRARY |
Our library time is on Tuesday at 2:05 p.m. Please make sure your child takes care of their library books, and returns them to the library in a timely manner. |
RED FOLDERS |
Our red folders (read everyday) are organized in the following sections: conduct sheet, reading log, and parent-teacher communication log. Tuesday papers and homework folder will also go home in this folder.. Your child should carry their red folder back and forth with them each day. The binder is the place for notes, homework, etc. Everything they need between school and home is kept in the folder. Please check your child's folder daily. |
TUESDAY PAPERS |
Communications and graded papers are generally sent home on Tuesday, but may be sent home any day of the week, so please check your child's red folder daily. We do a lot of hands-on, interactive activities during the school week. Grades are taken in a variety of formats. We use worksheets occasionally. Worksheets do not reflect all grades taken. |
READING
LOG |
Your child should record their daily reading (minimum of 20 minutes) in their reading log. This is generally one picture book or one chapter of a novel. |
HOMEWORK |
Your child should read at least 20 minutes a day and practice their addition/subtraction facts daily. Any other homework will be listed on the Parent-Gram. Complete information about long term projects will be sent home separately. |

REWARDS |
The best rewards are internal. Specific praise for specific acts helps to develop positive self-thinking. We have a treasure box for an occasional external award. Sometimes we will have a class celebration for our work efforts. |
HELPING YOUR CHILD |
What can you do
to help your child succeed in school? 1. Children need to know two things during the school day: Do they have enough lunch money in their account? How will they get home? Help lower your child's stress by making sure they are covered for both. 2. Check your child's folder everyday. Help your child keep their folder and backpack cleaned out. 3. Set a consistent homework time. Provide your child with a quiet, comfortable place to work. Keep extra supplies on hand (paper, pencils, crayons, etc.). 4. Practice math facts with your child. A great time to do this is in the car. 5. Read to your child every day. There is nothing better than sharing a book with your child. 6. If your child tells you something upsetting that happened at school, stay calm and contact the teacher for more information. Don't assume that your child has given you a complete story, or even a correct story. Children's perceptions are often different from the way things really happened. Together we can work it out to make sure your child feels safe and happy. 7. Have a family game night. Play board games. Board games support reading, math and thinking. |
